Welcome! My name is Mallory and I’m an actor, vocalist, videographer, & teaching artist based in the Big Apple. A native New Yorker with Texas roots, I’ve got that no-nonsense city hustle partnered with that sweet southern charm.

After completing my B.A. in Theatre at Northwestern University I made my way back to New York, bright eyed and ready to sing “three bucks, two bags, one me” in front of Bubba Gump’s. Within a year I was accepted into the Actor’s Theatre of Louisville’s professional training company, and I repacked those bags and became a Kentuckian for 9 months. During that jam-packed season I devised pieces of theatre from scratch, understudied a dream role, collaborated with countless industry professionals, ate a lot of pulled pork, and focused my energies almost entirely on acting -- what an insane, incredible whirlwind that was.

Back to the city. Ready to take the world by storm. Meanwhile I rejoin a 5-member vocal group to continue singing in music videos for our more-than 100,000-subscriber YouTube channel. Over that year we began gigging in and around NYC and exploring other markets. Slowly but surely this work began to replace my restaurant/nanny/brand ambassador/tutor/kill-me-slowly jobs.

From the spring of 2016 until March 12th, 2020, Backtrack Vocals was my main focus; it was an exciting discovery: I can in fact create my own path. So much hustle was needed to become full time, even with two booking agents. We had weeks that included a school show in New Jersey on Monday, a video shoot on Tuesday, a corporate gig in South Carolina on Wednesday and straight to New Mexico the following day for a college performance. I learned camera settings and how to edit so that we could keep creating content on the road. I used phrases like "what's your bottom line" and "we adapt to all of our clients' needs" on phone calls. I schlepped to the depths of Queens with a bandmate to purchase a minivan in cash.

When Covid hit we were gearing up for our first international tour in Vietnam. We had built up momentum and were heading into 2020 with optimism and pride.

And as so many other artists had to do, we pivoted. We produced music videos from 5 separate locations. I created 'Sing with Backtrack', a virtual educational program that allows us to connect with students all over the country -- we teach them one of our arrangements and how to film themselves from home so they can co-star in a video with us. I also took on some of my own projects, including forming a musical duo with my sister, Monica, and creating outreach content for an organization I support, Cru Inner City. And, oh yeah! I met my other half in April 2021 and we married April 2022.
